As the field of electrophysiology grows, so do we!
Dear readers,
As the field of electrophysiology continues to grow and become more complex, the time came to include special monthly sections in order to help better define different areas of EP.
In the first special section, “Sudden Death,” Dr. Kathryn Glatter writes on long QT syndrome, one of the more common genetic causes of sudden death. Her institution has become a major referral center for the study and diagnosis of LQTS; it is now believed that the incidence of LQTS is only about 1 in 1,000. In the article, she helps provide clinical features and genetic information to help identify and treat long QT.
In the next special section, entitled “Atrial Fibrillation,” section editor L. Bing Liem, MD will provide monthly updates in this area of EP. This month, he has provided an overview on the topic and discusses the differing management issues that come up when treating AF.
The third monthly section, “Cryotherapy,” which is edited by Dr. Jose Nazari, includes a very interesting article that I think you will really like. In this article, we interviewed a patient about his experiences in dealing with a diagnosis of AVNRT and being treated with cryoablation. The results were very interesting.
As always, we will continue to run our popular EP lab spotlight and industry interviews, as well as CME articles, case reports and email discussion group updates. In addition, in the next issue, look for more special monthly sections. I hope you will enjoy them.
Thanks for reading!
