The 8th Annual Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing took place March 14-15 in Malmö, Sweden. It was organized by the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (CCNAP) of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
Defibrillation using biphasic energy delivery is quickly becoming the standard in the acute care setting. The major defibrillator manufacturers are racing to convert their product lines, and the models generating monophasic waveforms are becoming extinct.
Boston Scientific Corporation announced completion of enrollment in the Multicenter Automatic Defibrillator Implantation Trial with Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (MADIT-CRT). The trial includes 1,820 patients and examines the potential benefits of Boston Scientific cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds) in a new population of heart failure patients. It is the latest in a series of landmark randomized clinical trials sponsored by Boston Scientific's Cardiac Rhythm Management group, following in the tradition of MADIT, MADIT II and COMPANION.
St. Jude Medical, Inc. announced the release of its EnSite™ System Version 8.0 software. The new software will help physicians more intuitively visualize the anatomy of the heart to diagnose and treat abnormal heart rhythms.
